Lost London Psych-Soul Group ICE Collect All 1967-68 Sides on Whisper Her Name CD
London psych-soul outfit ICE finally get the anthology treatment on Whisper Her Name, a 19-track CD capturing every 1967-68 single, radio sessions and demos—Prof. Stoned remaster.

Psychedelia had no shortage of cult heroes, but few are as elusive—and collectible—as ICE, the South-East London quintet that were broadcast alongside Hendrix and Traffic yet left behind only a clutch of Decca singles. Think Like A Key’s new anthology Whisper Her Name: The Complete ’67-’68 Recordings finally gathers every known master on one disc, out 30 May 2025 in a limited digifile run of 300 copies.
What’s on the disc
- Decca singles & B-sides – “Ice Man,” the title track “Whisper Her Name (Maria Laine),” and the proto-prog “Time’s Fading Fast.”
- BBC sessions – a crunchy cover of “Day Tripper,” plus the previously unreleased soul-pop gem “Wide Blue Yonder Boy.”
- Russell’s Clump acetate (1967) – three tracks from the short-lived pre-Ice band, including organ-driven burner “Burning Burning.”
- Studio demos (post-Ice) – six tape-box rescues with ballad and rockers like “Silver Lady,” featuring Chris Simpson and Kris Johnson.
